Prof. Harold J. Vinegar

Professor Harold J. Vinegar, with a PhD in physics from Harvard, has 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He served as Chief Scientist at Royal Dutch Shell and Genie Oil and Gas and produced over 300 patents and 60 publications. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and has received the SPWLA Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement.

Professor Vinegar has invented and developed novel thermal conversion and recovery processes for unconventional resources, core analysis methods (X-ray CT and NMR), NMR and induced polarization logging techniques, and environmental thermal remediation (TerraTherm).

He is Professor of Petroleum Geosciences at Ben-Gurion University in Israel. Along with Professor Shimon Feinstein, he is the chair of the BGU Petroleum Geosciences and Environmental Research Center.
